As a young family trying to get a foot in the mortgage market following complete financial devastation during the GFC, Don looked at our unique situation (barely 10% deposit, one wage, renting the upstairs half of a house and lofty expectations of a real home for our children) and incredibly said to us ‘here’s how I’m going to do it’. And he did. And before long, we found ourselves living the quarter-acre dream in the suburbs watching our little boys play in a big backyard, with their own rooms and making all the noise they like!

A couple of years on, Clinton was made redundant, and that set in motion a chain of events that on some days appeared to have no end. With another new baby on the scene, we were faced again with that incredible weight that sits in the very bottom of your stomach and tries to drag down all your hope. After 21 very, very long months and many miracles, Clinton returned to work, however the deep financial hole dug during that time was impossible to ignore – but, to Don’s way of thinking, not impossible to overcome (you’d think we’d have learned!).

We had to refinance to repay high-interest debt and make home improvements to accommodate my elderly mother – all on a lower income than when we first bought! I’m not about to say this was a battle that was won overnight. Far from it. It took months. But that is what makes Don and his team incredible. These are the situations where all that history, knowledge and tenacity make the difference.

Three times our refinance application was rejected, but through absolute determination and belief that there was a way to save our home, the fourth time the bank finally saw it Don’s way.

We think they should be called All About You, because that’s honestly who they care about.
